City of Westfield, Grand Park Sports Complex

Grand Park is large enough to contain the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Lucas Oil Stadium, and the Indianapolis Zoo within its 400 acres. It is one of the largest sports campuses in the country, and Westfield built it from farmland.

The outdoor program runs 31 fields for soccer, football, field hockey, and lacrosse, and 26 diamonds for baseball and softball. Both grass and synthetic surfaces are in the mix, with lighting on eight fields and eight diamonds, including two stadium fields and a championship diamond. Indoors, three multi-use fields extend the season past the weather.

What holds it together is underneath and around it. State-of-the-art irrigation and drainage keep 42 grass playing surfaces in tournament condition through an Indiana summer. Nine lakes, hills, and trees shape the landscape, more than ten miles of pedestrian trails connect it, and 4,700 parking spaces feed a single road running the length of the park, which keeps traffic predictable on a campus that can host thousands of families at once.
