StoryPoint Senior Living
StoryPoint had two senior living communities under construction, one in Fort Wayne and one in Chesterton, and both had fallen more than a year behind schedule. They asked us to finish them.
The first thing we built was a schedule. Both communities needed one that accounted for the work remaining and the work that had to be redone, and both had to run at once.
Then came the corrections. Two-hour rated fire walls had been closed up incorrectly, which meant leading crews into finished attic space to reach and repair the assemblies. Door hardware had been installed poorly throughout. The sprinkler systems needed re-engineering, with mechanical and electrical components that were not functioning, which we resolved by working directly with the engineers, inspectors, the fire marshal, and the town’s building commissioner to modify systems already in the walls. An elevator that was already installed had to be brought to state approval.
Alongside all of it, we rebuilt working relationships with the Trade Partners on both sites.
Seven months after we arrived, both communities were complete.
