SAFETY

We have an aggressive position on safety and a relentless motive to improve it. From the top down, safety is instilled in everything we do. Our number one goal is to safely deliver all of our projects and strengthen our relationships with our trade partners so that everyone returns home safely at the end of the workday.

As an active CCS and ABC association member, Meyer Najem has received several CCS safety achievements, Safety Leader awards and the prestigious Crystal Eagle award in 2011. We have also received the ABC Prime Contractor Safety in Excellence awards, and participate as an ABC STEP Diamond Level Contractor. Our aggressive position on safety and our relentless efforts to improve safety in the workplace has assisted our firm in attaining a current experience modification rating (EMR) of .64.

Through our passion for the safety and health of our employees and those who work on our project sites we are engaged in the Construction Family Assistance Foundation as a Sustaining Member and actively serve on the Board of Directors.

Meyer Najem is a member and Certified Partner of CCS, an organization that provides safety and drug free guidelines for construction companies. In addition to participating in the CCS Substance Abuse program, we are a CCS Certified Partner with the Indiana Department of Labor/IOSHA, and Meyer Najem’s VP of Safety & Compliance chairs the CCS Educational Outreach Committee.

SAFETY CONTROLS

Meyer Najem recognizes the fact that the responsibilities for safety and health are shared between all parties involved in the construction process and implements safety controls as:

  • Train all employees in good safety and health practices and processes, including hazard recognition and fall protection.
  • Provide necessary personal protective equipment, and instructions for its use, maintenance and care; Hard hats and safety glasses are worn at all times until final finishes begin and high visibility wear is worn for all exterior and site activities.
  • Provide administrative and engineering safeguards to the maximum extent feasible.
  • Train on emergency procedures, evacuation and life safety measures and fire prevention procedures.
  • Provide First aid kits in the contractor’s office and first-aid- trained field staff.
  • Hold Pre-employment, annual, random, and post accident drug testing of all Meyer Najem employees.
  • Require all subcontractor employers to provide a complete safety program, inclusive of hazardous communication/GHS and Material.
  • Safety Data Sheets (SDS) , complete a project site safety orientation and complete weekly safety meetings and inspections of their work.
  • Conduct weekly safety inspections.
  • Maintain a master project specific safety plan inclusive of all trades for each project and track subcontractor safety programs, annual pre-qualification safety scores, safety plans for the work and insurance.
  • All Meyer Najem project superintendents complete 30-Hour OSHA construction training and first aid/CPR training.
