Meyer Najem is committed to diversity and inclusion within our workforce, fostering continuous employee development and talent that inspires and serves the community we work in, strengthens our customer and personal relationships, and the promotion of employee ideas and engagement – embracing all.
Diversity Policy Statement
The policy of Meyer Najem is to increase business opportunities for diverse enterprises through its company wide Diversity Inclusion Program. Meyer Najem is committed to developing mutually beneficial business relationships with minority and women-owned enterprises, veteran, small and disadvantaged business enterprises (MBE, WBE, VBE, SBE and DBE, respectively) that can meet or exceed project requirements for products and services. Identifying these businesses, providing them opportunities to do business with us, and helping them succeed is one of the essential elements to our own success. All employees should seek to provide avenues of support and opportunities for qualified MBE, WBE, VBE, SBE and DBE firms that may also be our valued customers.
Diversity Inclusion Program
Meyer Najem invites minority-owned, woman-owned, veterans, small and disadvantaged business enterprises (MBE, WBE, VBE, SBE and DBE, respectively) to participate on all projects. It’s our goal to utilize these firms to the fullest extent possible in all phases of work, including construction contracts, second sub tier, material suppliers and professional service contracts.
Meyer Najem actively participates in promoting diverse opportunities on projects through various industry related associations and activities. We are actively participating in the Indiana Construction Roundtable (ICR), the Diversity Roundtable of Central Indiana, Associated Builders & Contractors Indiana/Kentucky Chapter, and the National Association of Women in Construction. We encourage partnerships between subcontractor majority enterprises and diverse firms and as a result we have implemented a detailed second sub-tier tracking program to assist in furthering the goals met on projects.
During the design development phase, we have been successful in hosting informal project information sessions specifically to solicit as well as educate diverse firms regarding a given project. Positive outcomes from these information sessions are specific to:
- Educate diverse firms on the project, bid dates, and work scopes.
- Encourage and engage in dialog before, during and after their participation in the project.
- Encourage MBE/WBE/DBE/VBE/SBE to actively participate in the bid process.
- Encourage diverse firms to contact larger primary trade firms to partner or partner with.
- Educate and identify minority suppliers and vendors.
- Mentor diverse firms regarding safety and jobsite safety planning.
