Accountants wear many hats. In the case of Meyer Najem’s accounting department, they sometimes wear hard hats. The company sets up jobsite tours for all employees so that everyone gets to see the fruits of their labor. And, our accountants are awarded for project successes, just as a project manager or superintendent would be. Keeping our subcontractors happy through prompt payment is important in building relationships, and we have the right team to get it done.
Meyer Najem’s accounting department of five is led by Chief Financial Officer Scott Stull. Scott has been in the construction industry for more than thirty years, and he joined Meyer Najem in 2013. “I used to think of Meyer Najem as the Yankees of construction companies—they were always winning. But once I joined the company, I got it. Everyone works hard and I love being on a winning team,” Scott said.
Scott is a big sports fan. His office includes a collection of Pacers bobble heads and he attends Pacers and Colts games whenever he can. He has been the coach for the company’s intramural basketball teams and he seems to apply this mentality to leading the accounting department. His team includes three project accountants that handle more than $50 million a year each in projects and one accountant who handles all of accounts payable. That’s no small feat, but the team puts in the work and gets it done.
Scott has a finance degree from Indiana University and he originally had plans to be a stock broker. He tried his hand at it right out of college in New Jersey, but he knew right away that it wasn’t for him. With Scott’s easy-going personality and teamwork-mentality, it’s clear to see that being the CFO of Meyer Najem is a better fit.
In his free time, Scott teaches Construction Accounting at IUPUI in Indianapolis and several of the company’s employees are Scott’s former students. He is also the past president and active member of CFMA (Construction Financial Management Association), the only organization dedicated to construction financial professionals.
Scott clearly has a passion for construction accounting and the right personality to make him a successful leader of our hard-working accounting team. Let the experience of our Accounting Department work for you.
Meet Meyer Najem.
