StoryPoint Senior Living

After working with the original contractor, StoryPoint brought on Meyer Najem to help the two, 187,000-square foot facilities get completed after falling more than 12 months behind schedule.

Much of our team’s focus was initially put into creating a detailed schedule that would help complete both projects in Chesterton and Fort Wayne, as quickly as possible while correcting various workmanship items. Within seven months of restructuring and coordinating with project teams, both projects were completed in full success. Many of the initial challenges that our team faced included correcting two hour rated fire walls, fixing poorly installed door hardware, re-engineering the sprinkler systems, getting state approval on an already installed elevator system and building relationships with trade contractors who were originally unpaid by the initial contractor.

Fixing fire rated walls that were already finished was no easy task. To tackle this our team led trade contractors in the attic to correct the issues. The major conflict with the sprinkler system was the malfunctioning of the mechanical and electrical components. By working in coordination with the engineers, inspectors, Fire Marshall and the town’s building commissioner, we were able to modify the MEP system that was already installed to meet code.
