Broad Ripple Park Family Center
Broad Ripple Park is adding to their ever-expanding history of serving the Indianapolis community with the addition of the new Broad Ripple Park Family Center.
Early development of Broad Ripple Park began in the late 1800s and has since grown from a small, amusement park and picnic spot to a bustling 62-acre community area with a family center, swimming pool, athletic fields, and playgrounds. The park has quickly become a hub for the citizens of Broad Ripple Village, many of whom frequent the Family Center, a gathering place that offers a wide variety of programs, classes, and activities for all ages.
With over 300,000 visitors a year, this space was long overdue for a transformation. Demolition on the previous building began in July 2021, which marked the first major step in the larger, extensive redevelopment of the park. The park and adjacent recreation areas remained open to the public throughout the construction process.
The new, bi-level 47,000-square foot space was completed in December 2022 through a partnership between Indy Parks and Recreation and Community Health Network. With 18 family practice exam rooms, 6 pediatrician rooms, 3 procedure rooms, and a lab, Community Health’s 15,000-square foot space within the center will provide easily accessible family medicine and pediatric care, physical therapy, rehabilitation, and imaging services in one centralized location.
The Indy Parks space features a gymnasium, track, play area, party room, programming space, offices, and tenant spaces. With more than triple the square footage of the previous building, the Family Center hopes to expand its activity offerings and create more programs for all age groups.
