Heap/Hofer Town Aquatic Center

Brookville, Indiana

The Heap/Hofer Town Aquatic Center in Brookville, Indiana has always served the purpose of gathering the community and providing families a safe and fun place to spend summer days.

With a leaking pool, and a deep need for an overhaul, Meyer Najem Construction teamed up with GM Development for a unique Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) project.

The Town of Brookville assembled a special committee with local business and community leaders to help guide the process and direction of the update. The entire town helped fund this project to bring this new pool to life.

Details

In June 2020, construction was in full swing in the midst of COVID-19, and the Meyer Najem team began work. The goal was to have a grand opening Memorial Day weekend 2021.

One of a kind, fun features included two slides, a zero entry pool, and a basketball goal to serve as activities for kids of all ages.

The pool structure that housed a small concession stand, locker rooms, restrooms and a small office space was completely gutted and converted into an updated space. The original structure was kept, but a new roof and interior features were added.

Community Appreciation

The town was extremely grateful for this project that brings such joy to families in the community. The Meyer Najem team enjoyed working with local businesses and subcontractors, and welcomed many visitors throughout the project.

“Using the BOT process for this project made for a successful and smooth approach to completing the pool. Executing such a meaningful project for the Town of Brookville is an honor,” – Kevin McGovern, Meyer Najem
