Morgan County Judicial Campus
The new Morgan County Judicial Campus in Martinsville, Indiana has recently been completed, delivering a modern, purpose-built facility to serve the county’s growing justice system. Spanning three stories and 72,000 square feet, the building more than doubles the size of the original courthouse footprint. Inside, the campus features six courtrooms, jury deliberation areas, judges’ chambers with private restrooms, clerk workspaces, and secure circulation routes for staff and the public. And a secure, enclosed garage bay provides controlled access for law enforcement vehicles, ensuring safe and discreet entry and exit.
For citizens, the Judicial Campus represents a dramatic improvement over the county’s aging 1859 courthouse. The historic building lacked the space, safety, and accessibility required of a modern justice system — it was not ADA compliant, had limited security, and forced the public and staff to navigate cramped, outdated corridors. By contrast, the new campus is designed to welcome the community. A spacious, light-filled glass atrium serves as the main entry, overlooking a landscaped courtyard that creates an open, inviting atmosphere. The design balances transparency with security, ensuring visitors have a safe and accessible experience while preserving the dignity and authority of the judicial system.
This milestone project was made possible through the collaboration of several key partners: Morgan County, Meyer Najem Construction, DLZ Architecture & Engineering, and GM Development. The combined expertise and commitment were instrumental in bringing this transformative civic facility to life, delivering a purpose-built space that ensures convenient access to public services while serving as a new landmark in downtown Martinsville.
